What does PDRN mean? 

PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide, small DNA fragments used in modern skincare formulations for their contribution to a well-cared-for, smooth-looking skin.

What is PDRN made from? 

The most widely used form of PDRN is obtained from purified salmon DNA. It is carefully extracted, filtered and sterilised. Plant-based versions are now also available, based on seaweed (often called GIM) or bananas.

How do I use a PDRN serum in my routine?

Apply a PDRN serum in the morning and/or evening to cleansed skin, before your day or night cream. Start gently, for example once a day, and build up to twice daily if your skin responds well. 

When will I notice results from PDRN skincare?

Many people notice a first change in the look of their skin, especially in glow and hydration, within one to two weeks. For visible changes in texture and firmness, 4 to 8 weeks of consistent use is typical. 

Does PDRN fit alongside my retinol routine?

Yes. PDRN fits well into a routine that already includes retinol. Many people use retinol in the evening and PDRN in the morning, but alternating on different days works nicely too.

Are there vegan alternatives to PDRN?

Yes. The classic salmon-DNA form is not vegan, but plant-based versions are emerging, known as GIM-PDRN (from seaweed) or banana PDRN, positioned as vegan alternatives. 

What is the difference between topical PDRN and injectables?

Topical PDRN products are cosmetic care products you apply to the skin at home. Injectables such as Rejuran are medical treatments carried out by a doctor in a clinical setting, they fall outside cosmetics and have an entirely different purpose. 

Is PDRN suitable for sensitive skin?

PDRN formulations are generally well tolerated by many skin types, including skin that reacts quickly to other ingredients. If you are very reactive, a patch test remains a sensible first step.
