Beautician Silvia Troska travelled to America in 1982. There she discovered that American nail salons did not glue artificial nails onto the natural nails, but used special products to create a layer on the nails instead. This makes the nails look more natural and it is also suitable for short, weak nails. Silvia Troska wanted to introduce these new techniques in Germany. She trained in America and began offering the techniques in her perfumery in Düsseldorf. It was a great success with both professional and private clients, and in 1989 she founded Alessandro. Even so, Silvia Troska was not entirely satisfied. The products contained chemicals that damage the natural nails. That is why she developed the first Alessandro product, called Soft Gel. It was the first acid-free UV gel system on the market and it is still offered to professionals today.
Gel polish for home use
Today Alessandro is best known for Striplac, the first UV/LED gel polish for home use. Striplac was launched in 2013 and became Striplac Peel Or Soak in 2019. A complete manicure takes just 15 minutes, as you apply only one layer of colour and a top coat. The gel polish lasts up to 3 weeks and you can remove it in two ways within 10 minutes: peel it off the nails (Peel) or soak it off (Soak). Besides gel polish, Alessandro also offers regular nail polish, care products and accessories for hands and feet. So you can always give yourself a manicure or pedicure at home!
