In 1890, Dr. Alexandre Lamotte founded Maison Académie Scientifique de Beauté. The brand quickly gained international recognition at cosmetic fairs. Académie went beyond traditional beauty salons by developing new principles in skincare. Georges Gay, Lamotte's successor, established France's first school of aesthetics. In 1934, the brand developed ampoules with active hormones to promote cell renewal, and in 1936, it patented the use of collagen in skincare—a groundbreaking innovation still essential in cosmetics today.
