Wella started out producing tulle for wigs, but when these fell out of fashion the company focused on permanent waves. This is also where the name comes from, meaning wave. Wella has always been a pioneer in product development for salons. It invented the first portable perm machine and the first motorised hairdryer. Its hair products have always been innovative too. Among other things, Wella created the first protective hair balm, the first conditioning cream colour and the first lightening hair colour. To this day the salon brand keeps innovating and leading the way in the latest technologies and hair trends.
