Acne & spots
Normal skin is well balanced. Your skin feels neither dry nor oily, you have little to no redness, sensitivity or blemishes, your complexion is even and your skin feels smooth and supple.
What causes normal skin?
You are naturally blessed with normal skin. The sebaceous glands produce enough sebum to protect your skin and keep it supple, without making it greasy. You have a healthy skin barrier, so the risk of dehydration, irritation and sensitivity is very small. However, you can upset normal skin by using harsh skincare or products intended for another skin type. Good care helps keep your normal skin healthy and beautiful.
Which ingredients work well for normal skin?
- Hyaluronic acid - Can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in moisture and hydrates intensively.
- Glycerin - Hydrates intensively and has a softening effect.
- Vitamin C - Stimulates collagen production, protects against free radicals and brightens the complexion.
- Peptides (general) - Proteins that contribute to firm, elastic skin.
- Green tea - Rich in antioxidants and helps prevent sun damage. It is also anti-inflammatory.
Which skincare routine keeps normal skin in balance?
Choose a mild cleanser without irritating ingredients such as alcohol and fragrance. These ingredients can dry out the skin or actually stimulate sebum production. Protect your skin against premature ageing by applying SPF every day. Use a hydrating cream during the day (with vitamin C or green tea, for example) if you are young. You can also use an anti-wrinkle cream or a firming cream if you have mature, normal skin. Match your night cream to your skin's needs. Use a light, repairing cream or a nourishing anti-ageing cream (with peptides, for instance).

Because there are different forms of acne, it can look different for everyone. Some people mainly have visible comedones, white bumps under the skin. Cysts are inflammations located very deep in the skin. Cysts often feel painful and can leave unpleasant scars. There are also papules, red bumps without a white head, and pustules, red bumps with a white head of pus.

WHICH INGREDIENTS HELP AGAINST ACNE?
- Salicylic acid - Cleanses the pores thoroughly and exfoliates the skin to reduce clogged pores and blemishes.
- Tea tree - Has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action. Contributes to clear, even skin.
- Glycolic acid - This AHA removes dead skin cells from the skin's surface for smooth, soft skin.
- Kaolin - This clay purifies and detoxifies the skin. It absorbs sebum and impurities and is very gentle on the skin.
WHICH SKINCARE ROUTINE REDUCES ACNE?
It's hard, but try not to pick at your spots. This can make acne worse. Cleanse your skin daily with a mild product. Harsh cleansers can dry out the skin and damage the skin barrier, which can even aggravate acne! Don't use a scrub, but a chemical peel with salicylic acid, for example. That way the skin isn't damaged. After cleansing, apply a light moisturiser, ideally with a gel texture.
